How blessed I am that God has brought me so far in the last 6 years in my walk with Him. At the age of 23, a long, long time ago, I married into a wealthy family and lived filling my life with earthly pleasures. They were the things that consumed my thoughts and heart - they were what I delighted in. I recently went to a reunion in Nassau, Bahamas for New Years Eve which was attended by the rich and famous, the highest, most powerful politicians, and the emptiness so evident in every one of them compared to what I have now in Jesus Christ was clearly seen in all its tawdry shabbiness. My delight truly is in the Lord! He is the greatest joy and pleasure of my mind and sense, and nothing compares!
Almost 5 years ago to this day was when the Holy Spirit gave me the powerful My Beloved Loves Me. Four and a half years ago He had me begin writing for Him and producing 700 little books at great expense to me which I could not afford at the time, only to have all but one of those 700 books elicit zero response. I was learning obedience and learning to hear His voice all at once. That marvelous story is told in Listen - Jesus is Speaking.
At the time, I understood nothing of God's ways, I didn't understand that He wasn't in a hurry, that His plans take time to unfold, that His ways are perfect. One of those books was instrumental in a powerful "Act of God" way to save a young lady's life and even more tremendously, to dedicate that saved life to living for and loving Jesus in a spectacularly wonderful way. That little story is shared in The Forgotten Prayer.
Jesus surely is the delight of my life, my joy unspeakable, as Paul said. Last week, long years after the piles of books had been packed away in the back of my closet, I got to experience pure joy, the greatest satisfaction, the deepest pleasure, sheer delight in the Lord because of those books.
Today I will have the utmost joy in getting all those books ready to mail to a lady I have never met, but who the Lord supernaturally brought into my life just a few months ago. Her ministry is taking Jesus to the elderly, the lonely, the lost. I wrote to tell her about the books, how they had come about, and the powerful Holy Spirit leading I had to finally understand that those books had been created for this time, for her, to share through her ministry. She asked my permission to print my writings from the Web Pages so she could use them for handouts. The other evening as I was struggling to print out text for these writings so she would not have the expense of ink for all the beautiful graphics I use on the sites, the Holy Spirit spoke gently but firmly to say, "Send her the books." I was jolted in more ways than one as once again, I had forgotten all about those books! This at 11 o'clock at night and I was so excited I could hardly sleep, exhausted though I had been. I wrote to tell Linda. She replied, "Praise the Lord! You are so much like me. I can tell just the way you write you are so excited about the Lord and the Holy Spirit! Me too! Our ministry is totally led by the Holy Spirit. He took a bunch of silly ladies (we now have men involved also), anointed us and sent us out in His power. Most people think this type of ministry is boring, but let me tell you, God has anointed us to teach, preach and evangelize, much like your writing ministry. So far in 5 years, 368 precious people have accepted Jesus as Lord. Just this year in two weeks, 86 people came to God. We also go into many assisted living facilities and this is awesome because these people are older, but all are of a sound mind. The harvest is truly ripe unto harvest and the people are hungry for reading material, especially anointed Holy Ghost words of inspiration such as you have. We buy all our own tracts and Bibles, and so we never have enough books or writing material. I believe God brought you to us. All of us seem to have the same personality as you - youthful, child-like, and totally in love with God."
I sat and sobbed, deep soul-crying in exquisite joy to experience the work of the Holy Spirit again! And to understand in one brilliant flash of insight how He works and why obedience must be absolute always. There are no words to describe the "joy unspeakable" (Paul sure used the perfect words there, didn't he?) that I experienced in delighting in and praising and worshipping God in those moments. He is my delight, and how incredible that this "stranger" sensed that about me! That itself is unutterable joy!!! Somebody saw Jesus in me.
Exactly 5 years ago when God was empowering that Linda in New Jersey for her ministry, He was delivering me, Lin, in Washington state, so that I could be made ready to begin my own ministry for Him through writing what He teaches me so that others will be brought to a knowledge of Him! And now, not late, not 5 years after the fact, not by acident but by design, right in perfect Holy Spirit timing, He brings these two ministries together to further His own purposes and work for those books!!!!
O, what an amazingly wonderful God we have! This is all shared to give you a graphic description of "delighting in the Lord!" |

Words are delightsome things to me, a life-long lover of language. Words create mental pictures. God is a master wordsmith. He never uses one when He means another; each word in His Word is specific and precise, meaning exactly what He intends.
For example, He did not give us "10 Suggestions", He gave us "10 Commandments", big, big difference and might be food for a future study, in fact. This study, this site is all about "D e l i g h t".
I am a very simple, absolutely literal child of God, and in all of His teachings to me, He knows to start at the beginning, at the root, deep down in the depths of things because that's how the finite little mind He gave me learns and understands. So, with this teaching on learning to "Delight in the Lord," we start in the dictionary. What exactly does the word mean? If God wants me to "delight" in Him, what exactly is it that He is desiring of me? All of us use words in daily conversation without understanding of their true meaning. The word love, is so overused and diminished in meaning that we will seach out that word too. When God said in the first and greatest commandment that we are to l o v e Him, He did not expect it to be on a par to loving pizzas or burgers, or movie stars or sports. We'll get to that! |

Delight: "A high degree of gratification of mind or sense; extreme satisfaction; anything that gives great pleasure; power of affording pleasurable emotion, to give joy or satisfaction to; to please; to take great pleasure in; to be greatly pleased; to give keen enjoyment." |

Now lets look at the best known, most often quoted "delight" verse in the Bible:
"Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart."
Now lets apply the meaning of the word delight: When the Lord is the highest degree of gratification for my mind and sense, when He is my most extreme satisfaction over anything in my life including people; when the Lord is my greatest joy and my keenest enjoyment, then He will give me the desires of my heart. That's what that verse really means.
If the new car, the great job, the fantastic income, lifestyle, the wife, husband, mother, father, child, lover, in my life are the things that satisfy and give me the most pleasure and joy, then I am not delighting in the Lord Jesus as He desires. |

From Job to Romans, those who loved God with a passion, knew what it was to "delight in Him" - in His laws, His testimonies, His ways, His words and instructions, in God Himself.
"I delight to do thy will, O my God." Psalm 40:8 |
God wants our best, our first in delighting in Him, in loving and adoring Him, in worshipping and cherishing Him. He doesn't want leftovers and He abhors any of these things lukewarm. We are to be zealous, fervent, totally consumed as with a first-love intensity!
We know that this is so because He says so -
